Week of Oct. 15

This week we read a story called 'Open Wide, Don't Bite!' that was about a dentist. This dentist worked on large, dangerous animals. After reading the story, we took our Unit 1 Reading test. In math, we have been working on rounding numbers to specific place values and then estimating the sums and differences. We have also been working with the properties of addition and rules of subtraction.
In science we have been learning about how scientists classify organisms based on their characteristics and the different Kingdoms that organisms are classified into. In social studies we have been learning about geography, the study of the Earth and how people use it.
We have been making masks using goober, paint and cardboard. In music we have been discussing themes for the Christmas concert, and in Phy Ed we have been playing scooter hockey and different tag games.
We also finished our read aloud book called 'Turnabout'. We never found out what happens to the girls when they reached zero years old. We began writing our own "final chapters" to the story where we tell how we think it should end.
